Cast of Characters Continues

Chapter 8  
While in Majorca, Spain, Tim Allerton tries to talk his mother into visiting Egypt.  Tim received a letter from his cousin, Joanna Southwood, that said Lord Windlesham went to Canada after Linnet Ridgeway refused him and that Linnet is going to marry a land agent.  Mrs. Allerton mentions how Sir George Wode has bad feelings toward Linnet since selling her his house.  Tim and Mrs. Allerton decide to visit Egypt in January.
 
Chapter 9
In New York, cousins Cornelia Robson and Marie Van Schuyler talk about their upcoming trip to Egypt accompanied by Miss Bowers.  Mrs. Robson, Cornelia’s mother, is grateful for her daughter’s upcoming trip but comments to Miss Bowers that she hopes there won’t be any trouble.
 
Chapter 10  
Business partners Andrew Pennington and Sterndale Rockford, receive a letter from Linnet saying she is marrying Simon Doyle.  The day Pennington opens the letter on Linnet’s wedding day.  They agree Pennington should travel to Egypt to “manage” the situation.
 
Chapter 11
William Carmichael calls his nephew, Jim Fanthorp, into his office to read a letter.  The letter from Linnet says that she met her American trustee, Andrew Pennington, during her honeymoon travels up the Nile.  Linnet says that Pennington was unaware of her marriage.  Carmichael and Fanthorp think the meeting of Linnet and Pennington is more than a chance meeting.  Carmichael sends Fanthorp to Egypt to monitor the situation and act if necessary.
 
Chapter 12  
Mrs. Otterbourne and her daughter, Rosalie, are in Jerusalem when Rosalie sees a newspaper article about the marriage of Simon Doyle and Linnet Ridgeway.  Mrs. Otterbourne complains about the lack of special treatment in Jerusalem.  Rosalie suggests they go to Egypt.
