Poirot asks Tim Allerton about Joanna Southwood and high society jewel robberies.  Tim admits to stealing the pearls but doesn’t know if Linnet was dead or alive when he was in her room.  Rosalie saw Tim go into Linnet’s room but won’t admit it to Poirot.  Poirot lets Tim and Rosalie take the fake pearls.  The couple throw the pearls into the Nile.
 
Chapter 27
Poirot says Tim and Rosalie are an excellent couple.  Poirot tells Race he knows who committed the murders.  Colonel Race receives a coded telegram naming Richetti as the assassin he is looking for.
 
Chapter 28
Poirot explains the sequence of events surrounding the murders.  Poirot was drugged the night of Linnet’s murder.  This was not a spontaneous crime but a carefully planned murder.  Although it appeared to Cornelia and Fanthorp that Jackie shot Simon, it was not the case.  After Cornelia, Fanthorp and Jackie left the room, Simon got up, ran to Linnet’s room, shot her, ran back to the observation saloon, shot himself in the leg and threw the pistol out the window.  Simon knew he would inherit Linnet’s money and be free to marry his true love, Jackie.  Louise saw Simon go into Linnet’s room, so Jackie killed her.  Mrs. Otterbourne saw Jackie go into Louise’s room, so Jackie killed her.
 
Chapter 29
A steward watches over Jackie as she tells Poirot the whole story.  She says she loved Simon and Simon loved money.  They planned the murder so they would each get what they wanted.
 
Chapter 30
The boat docks.  Richetti is taken ashore first.  Cornelia announces that she is engaged to Dr. Bessner, Ferguson can’t believe it.  Simon is taken ashore on a stretcher.  Jackie shoots him then herself.  The bodies of Louise, Mrs. Otterbourne and Linnet are carried off the Karnak.
